POSITION SUMMARY

Working as part of Mintier Harnish’s collaborative planning team, the Planner position actively engages in critical thinking, provides technical planning assistance for a variety of planning projects, and performs various office support tasks. Under direct supervision by mid- and senior-level planning staff, Planners work in team environments with colleagues, community members, and clients. RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct research and analysis for a variety of planning projects
• Assist in writing and preparing reports, deliverables, and proposals
• Assist mid- and senior-level planning staff
• GIS mapping and geoanalysis
• Assist in organizing public workshops and meetings
• Graphic design (e.g., flyers, posters, e-blasts)
• Edit and proof documents

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Understanding of urban planning principles and California planning law
• Understanding of local government organizations and procedures
• Strong research, analysis, writing, organization, and communication skills
• Proficiency using the following software:
  • Microsoft Office
  • Adobe Creative Suite (i.e., InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • GIS

EXPERIENCE

1-3 years of relevant planning experience

EDUCATION

• Master’s Degree in urban planning or closely related field (accredited program desired), or
• Bachelor’s Degree in urban planning or closely related field with at least one year of relevant planning experience (accredited program desired)
