The City of Santa Clara (pop. 129,488) lies at the center of Silicon Valley, 45 miles south of San Francisco. The Community Development Department provides planning, review and inspection of development proposals and affordable housing and is supported by 72 positions and a FY 2020-21 budget of $30.3 million.
The ideal candidate will have a broad community development background and will be a collaborative team player with the ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment. They will have proven success leading change with knowledge of contemporary planning principles and familiarity with building permit process best practices. Six years of planning experience including three years in a management capacity and a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in planning or related field are required. Two years of experience may be substituted for a Master’s degree.
Salary range is $188,462 - $245,000 supplemented by competitive benefits.
